WHAT A TRIP!

My recent time in the Maldives was a career highlight, surfing with my grommethood heroes,Tommy Curren,Occy,Martin Potter and Damien Hardmen.
Though the years have passed since them winning their world titles, their mature surfing is still outstanding!
My job description with Tropicsurf who I work for as a roving surf guide and coach year round, was to ensure that the champs could go surfing anytime outside of the Surfing Champions competition.
The competition was held at the imfamous Maldivian surf break "Sultans"but we also got to surf other breaks nearby in which I saw some amazing surfing by Tom Curren and Dooma that I will never forget.
Here is some of footage from our first session together, the boys were mainly on their single fins while I was on my Formula Energy Twin Fin. Enjoy!

SURFARI BOAT BURNS WHILE SURFER ENJOYS WAVES

The Surfari boat "Royal Manta" that hit a reef in April carrying 23 tourists and 15 crew has finally been burnt to the ground.
Huge blooms of black smoke were seen billowing from the broken in half surfari boat at a favourite   break called Boat Yards.
Traveling Tropicsurf guide Tim Mitchell said "I couldn't resist not surfing a few waves into the flames and rescue boat, he laughed. The heat was so intense and the Navy didn't seem to mind me being there even though the chance of more explosions was possible.

The National Defence Force fire and rescue boat was on hand quickly with a water canon ,which was likely the final plan for removal after a number of failed attempts to remove the wreck in recent months.

FIJI TUBE TRIP !

In February we are looking at getting tubed in the Fijian islands!!!For most of us it is only a stones throw away and can offer 5 star waves with very few out. We are looking at a number of regions for quality waves and resorts such as the well-known Tavarua and the less accessed Qamea and Nukubati Island resorts.
If your interested in a trip were your surfing skills will improve alongside your stoke levels, get in contact with me asap. tim@zrax.com
